Perched along the Donegal coast overlooking miles of sandy beach it is immediately clear how the Sandhouse Hotel gets its name.
This nineteenth century Manor House is found at the end of a meandering country road that weaves through a lush green valley, finishing where the rolling sea meets the appropriately titled bay of Rossnowlagh, meaning "heavenly cove". Indeed the Sandhouse Hotel enjoys one of Ireland's most picturesque locations with two miles of beach and views across Donegal Bay to the cliffs and mountains of Donegal.
Inside the sprawling, pastel coloured walls of this former fishing lodge dating back to the 1830s, you'll find spacious public areas decorated with typical country house chintz and old fashioned furnishings in the lounge, library and conservatory.
The Sandhouse has a selection of spacious bedrooms, which can cater for a range of family groupings as well as luxury corner suites and a four-poster suite and most of the rooms enjoy wonderful sea views.
The hotel's Seashell Restaurant provides award-winning cuisine with traditional country house fare and seafood specialties from the finest fresh local produce, accompanied by fine wines and the wide sea views out to Donegal Bay.
For an evening's entertainment the Sandhouse hosts regular cabaret nights with singing and traditional storytelling in the resident's bar, while the cosy Surfer's bar proves popular with locals and residents alike. The hotel also houses leisure facilities such as a Jacuzzi, steam room, and outdoor tennis courts and offers face and body beauty treatments.
The Sandhouse Hotel is situated near three championship links courses, numerous beaches and some of most breathtaking coastal scenery in Ireland.
