City of Derry Airport (Airport code: LDY) is located 7 miles north-east of Derry City on the main A2 linking the North West of Ireland with several UK & Continental destinations. A link with Dublin Airport (subsidised by the Irish Government) operated for a number of years until July 2011.
The airport underwent a £19million runway upgrade in 2008, enabling the announcement of its first continental route by Ryanair which commenced in June 2009 to Alicante in Spain.
